On 21st. July 2015 we had a jolly gathering to celebrate the completion of the third phase of the project (this website and our Educational Resources for schools) and our award from the Community Archive & Heritage Group – see Clare’s report for details. We welcomed representatives from CAHG, the Archives & Records Association and the Heritage Lottery Fund to Salisbury. On a glorious sunny afternoon historian George Fleming took the visitors around the first part of our Memory Walk, as far as the murals. Unfortunately the Highways Agency had just started major maintenance work on the Milford Street bridge, which meant poor George had to try and shout his explanations over the noise of compressors and drills!
Back at Salisbury Arts Centre we had a big crowd of contributors and volunteers on the project. There were tea and cakes, and a few short presentations, before the awards were presented by Sue Hampson (chair, CAHG) and David Mander (chair, ARA). Here are a few photos from the afternoon.
